(Subject To Meeting Individual T&C's) At Light Footprint we're proud to be affiliated with a range of Finance Schemes (Loans & grants) and as part of our service we research the market for clients to ensure all funding options are identified and realised. This ability allows us to deliver extra value and quicker paybacks for applicable projects. While there are definite signs showing the economy is starting to see a turn-around, we appreciate that capital investments are not always at the forefront of business owners' expenditure decisions and/or finance is not always available through traditional channels. Funding options can be variable depending on the market sector, region and type of organisation applying. We're set out some of the schemes that are currently available and that help our clients in the preparation of application. The great news is that for the foreseeable future schemes like these appear to remain available for businesses looking to invest in green technologies.

Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECAs) enable a business to claim 100% first-year capital allowances on their spending on qualifying plant and machinery. The schemes specific to LED Lighting is 'Energy-saving plant and machinery'. Businesses can write off the whole of the capital cost of their investment in the eligible technologies against their taxable profits of the period during which they make the investment. Several of our clients regularly benefit from the helpful cash flow boost and a shortened payback period the scheme offers. ECAs are claimed in a business's tax return. Always talk to your accountant at an early stage who will advise what records they need you to provide so that they can complete your business's tax return. ECA can be claimed on the cost of qualifying equipment, transportation of the equipment to site and direct installation costs. To find out more on Enhanced Capital Allowances click here.

In each financial year there are a range of grant schemes that support clients with their energy efficiency project, and for our clients specifically LED Lighting Projects. Although mainly available in Northern Ireland where several of the main electrical suppliers run annual Energy Efficiency Grant Schemes, within which LED is usually represented, there are other schemes available in England, Scotland & Wales at different times (currently the main scheme we are aware of is the Carbon Trust Green Business Fund, see above for full details). We'll keep this section updated to any grant scheme that we feel our clients could avail of. (Last update May 2016)
